Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives at the University of the District of Columbia
The only jazz specific archive in the DC area is found at the Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives at the University of the District of Columbia, which in just three decades has had a substantial impact on the jazz research world. In 1988 veteran radio personality and local jazz expert Felix E. Grant began donating materials accumulated over his nearly fifty-year career in Washington-area radio. In subsequent years, the archives has acquired several major collections that in addition to the vast holdings of sound recordings, books and other published materials, also include unique resources that highlight jazz artists and document jazz activities, sites and events in the Washington, D.C. area. The Archives’ website allows researchers not only to learn about its collections, policies, and history, but to access digitized materials remotely.
