Stanley Clarke N 4Ever is the latest incredible band incarnation of the genre-defying bassist-composer who first burst onto the world stage with Chick Corea and the legendary Return to Forever. Multiple GRAMMY Award-winning artists Terri Lyne Carrington and Ron Carter, the Guinness World Records’ certified most recorded bassist in the history of recorded music, will bring their bands to DC JazzFest stages.

Another exciting component of this year’s 20th Anniversary celebration is an expansion of global jazz perspectives with French bassist Clovis Nicholas Quartet (with special guest trumpeter Jeremy Pelt), Finnish pianist and composer Joonas Haavisto, the Chilean band Confluencia, Italian trumpet ace Paulo Fresu, and Australian multi-instrumentalist James Morrison.

In addition to presenting great jazz masters and internationally renowned touring artists, the DC JazzFest will showcase many of DC’s finest resident jazz artists including DC faves the Chuck Brown Band, the vocal artistry of Sharón Clark, the JazzDC All-Stars directed by Allyn Johnson, Muneer Nasser Quintet, Reginald Cyntje, Stephen Arnold & Sea Change, the BJ Simmons Quintet, Barry Moton’s Billy Strayhorn project and much more.

The five-day DC JazzFest, kicking off August 28, promises to be a citywide takeover with 80 concerts in more than a dozen neighborhoods. The blockbuster DC JazzFest weekend will be hosted on six stages at The Wharf, DC’s premier waterfront neighborhood and destination. The Wharf’s striking riverside views and bustling promenade with four hotels and more than 80 shops and restaurants are accessible by nearby Metro service, highway, and water taxi service.
