DC Jazz Festival Celebrates 20th Anniversary as a Citywide Neighborhood Destination


It’s All Things Jazz in DC on Labor Day Weekend

 

WASHINGTON, DC – July 24, 2024 – The DC Jazz Festival (DCJF) proudly announces its 20th Anniversary, marking two decades of bringing the soul of jazz to the heart of our nation’s capital. This year, the festival will transform Washington, DC into a citywide celebration with performances on outdoor and indoor stages across all eight wards. From intimate clubs to gorgeous outdoor venues, the festival will showcase the rich diversity of jazz music in a variety of settings, offering something for every jazz enthusiast.

 

 

Neighborhood Venues and Highlights


Throughout the festival, attendees can immerse themselves in the vibrant sounds of jazz at iconic venues including Westminster Church, the Embassy of Australia, the Carlyle Room, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, Kreeger Museum, Mr. Henry’s, Franklin Square Park and Takoma Station. Each venue offers a unique atmosphere, enhancing the experience of live jazz performance. The festival will culminate with the highly anticipated DC JazzFest at The Wharf, featuring stages on the piers plus performances at premier venues like The Anthem, Union Stage, and Arena Stage. This grand finale promises an unforgettable celebration of jazz, set against the stunning waterfront backdrop of The Wharf.

Presenting jazz across the city is a testament to DC’s rich musical heritage and its status as a major jazz hub. Washington, DC has long been recognized for its influential jazz scene, having produced legendary artists and fostered a vibrant community of jazz enthusiasts. By bringing jazz to neighborhoods throughout the city, the DC Jazz Festival celebrates this legacy and makes jazz accessible to all.
