As the children of Pastors, Marcus and Jean's musical roots were planted deep within the church, and it was there that the road was paved for the influence of gospel, blues, soul, and jazz to make it’s mark.
The Bad Plus came together at the end of the 20th century and has avoided easy categorization ever since, winning critical hosannas and a legion of fans worldwide with their creativity, unique sound and flair for live performance. José André Montaño is a jazz pianist and composer. Born in Cochabamba, Bolivia. He taught himself how to play piano from a very young age. His playful and inspired compositions bridges Jazz, Rock, Blues, Bossa Nova, Latin American Folklore, and World music. He is a musician who flavors his tunes with Latin rhythms and jazz harmonies. Anyone who has the opportunity to hear him play are amazed by his speed and accuracy.
