WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 13, 2014 – The highly popular Jazz in the 'Hoods presented by Events DC, will once again bring jazz to neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. during the 10th anniversary celebration of the DC Jazz Festival® (DCJF). With over 66 diverse performances, Jazz in the ‘Hoods will be held June 20-29, 2014.
“Jazz in the ‘Hoods is one of the most anticipated and acclaimed events during the DC Jazz Festival,“ said Erik A. Moses, managing director of Events DC’s Sports and Entertainment Division. “We’re excited to support an event that invites visitors and residents alike to experience great music in D.C.’s coolest neighborhood venues.”
With a variety of free and ticketed performances, from happy hours at Renaissance Hotels to late nights at Loews Madison Hotel, Jazz in the ‘Hoods will be held in 29 neighborhoods including Georgetown, Adams Morgan, Chevy Chase, Chinatown, Columbia Heights, DuPont Circle, Logan Circle, H Street, U Street, Capitol Hill, Takoma Park, Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon Square.
Participating venue partners include Bohemian Caverns, Twins Jazz, National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden, Atlas Performing Arts Center, Dumbarton House and Howard Theatre. Jazz in the ‘Hoods also features CapitalBop's D.C. Jazz Loft Series and the East River JazzFest Series.
The event features nationally and internationally acclaimed artists including: Allyn Johnson, Orrin Evans, Lafayette Gilchrist, Marc Cary, David Sanchez, Marshall Keys, Sharón Clark, Joe Fonda, Lena Seikaly, Ginger Baker, Origem, Herb Scott Ensemble, Houston Person, Dwayne Adell, Bohemian Caverns Orchestra, Gary Bartz, Pat Braxton Project and Matana Roberts COIN COIN, among many more.
