The critically-acclaimed Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra is a 17-piece big band founded by baritone saxophonist Brad Linde and Omrao Brown and co-directed by Linde and trumpeter Joe Herrera. Debuted on April 19, 2010, the BCJO has celebrated 5 years of Monday nights at the historic Bohemian Caverns.  Recipients of the 2012 Mayor's Arts Award, Washington Area Music Association WAMMIES for Best Big Band 2012, 2013, 2014, and Washington City Paper JAZZIES for Best Large Ensemble 2011, 2012, 2013, the ensemble features some of the District's best musicians and guest artists including Wycliffe Gordon, Jon Irabagon, Warren Wolf, and more. Join them each week as they explore music from Ellington, Basie, Strayhorn, Thad Jones, Oliver Nelson, Maria Schneider and originals by band members including Leigh Pilzer and Dan Roberts. This group embraces and challenges the tradition of big band repertoire and never stops swinging!
