Lori Williams is the lead vocalist of her self titled Washington, DC based jazz ensemble and a featured vocalist with many internationally known artists. She has taught vocal music in Washington, D.C. Public Schools since 1995. She conducts vocal jazz workshops and performs in the US and abroad (most recently in Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Slovakia). She has a Spring European tour of Russia and is scheduled to go on tour in Austria in July 2016.
Ms. Williams has directed several choirs, including the National Diamond Girls Jazz Choir (performing for the Inauguration Ceremony for President George Bush); the Sagamihara Christian Fellowship Gospel Choir in Japan; and several gospel choirs in the Washington Metropolitan area.
She has performed with many nationally-known recording artists, including David Archuleta, Yolanda Adams, Bob Baldwin, The Blackbyrds, Jerry Butler, Terri Lyne Carrington, George Duke, Howard Hewitt, Stanley Jordan, Ben E. King, Phil Perry, Lloyd Price, Maysa, Tony Terry, Angela Winbush, Oleta Adams, and Vesta Williams. She has also done extensive studio recording and commercial work.
Ms. Williams has performed in musical presentations at MetroStage Theatre in Virginia: "The All Night Strut," "Cool Papa’s Party,” “Isn't It Romantic,” "Ladies Swing The Blues: A Jazz Fable" (receiving a Helen Hayes Nomination for Best Female Lead in a Musical), and "Bessie's Blues". Most recently, Lori performed in "Shake Loose" (also at MetroStage) receiving rave reviews.
